As part of our ongoing work to keep your website secure, we reset passwords and signed all users out of the websites we host. This applies to Haley Marketing and Recruiters Websites clients. If your website login suddenly stopped working, this is why. Your website itself is up and running normally.
Why we did this
Over the past few weeks, several new security threats have been announced across the web industry. Resetting passwords and ending every active login session is one of the most effective steps a host can take to make sure only the right people can get into a website. It's a precaution we took across all the sites we manage, not something specific to your site.
What you need to do
- Go to your website's login page (usually yourdomain.com/wp-admin).
- Click "Lost your password?" below the login box.
- Enter your username or email address. You'll get an email with a link to create a new password.
- Choose a strong password you don't use anywhere else. Do not reuse your last WordPress password.
If the email doesn't arrive within a few minutes, check your spam folder.
If people register for accounts on your WordPress site
Some websites let visitors create their own login directly on the WordPress site, for example a members-only area or a gated resource page. If your site works this way, those users’ passwords may also have been reset. They’ll need to set a new one the next time they log in by clicking “Lost your password?” on the login page and following the emailed link.
This does not affect the Haley Marketing Career Portal, Talent Showcase, or HaleyMail. Logins for those products work separately from your WordPress site and were not changed.
What we're doing behind the scenes
Our team actively monitors and maintains the websites we host. That includes security scans, plugin and software updates, and protection from our web application firewall. This reset is part of that work.
