RSS Feeds - How You Share Your Jobs on Social Media
We provide for your use, through MyHaley, an RSS feed of jobs that can be used to push your jobs to social media sites, like LinkedIn, and Twitter.
While it would be really easy to just push all your jobs automatically to all of your social media pages, we really only recommend using the RSS feed for posting to the faster-moving Twitter.
For LinkedIn, posting jobs with no established rapport in groups may get you flagged for abuse. We recommend becoming an industry thought-leader by sharing content in groups, and focusing on groups where you can find new talent, such as local colleges or community groups.

XML Feeds - How Haley Marketing Shares Your Jobs on Aggregate Sites
There is a slight misconception we need to clarify: we do not technically "post" your jobs on any other sites, besides your own career portal. What does this mean? We send an XML feed of the jobs to the 3rd party Career Portal. Once the jobs reach those sites, through the XML feed, it is up to those aggregate sites to post the jobs that we sent.
Each site has their own specifications for what makes a "successful" job posting, and their own policies on what jobs get visibility on their sites. Most of the sites we send your jobs to will post them as long as basic criteria are met, such as having a title, description, a valid location, and job ID.
Job Posting Tips
We have compiled a list of general tips to help you get your jobs posted by these aggregate sites. Here is a great specific example, from Indeed.com's blog, where they talk about what they look for when posting jobs on their own site.
Here is a list of general tips that we have compiled to help you create more successful job postings:
- Job titles. The titles should stand out! They need to grab a job seekers attention. You should modify the job titles to be both functional and more "salesy." For example, a job title of "production" but for a job that is for cleanroom assembly. This title would attract more attention if the title was something like: "Clean Room Assembly - Production Job - $16/hr." The better the job titles, the more traffic they will attract.
- Pay rates. You should use the pay rate field on all jobs and consider including the best pay rates in the job titles. Jobs with pay info get 40% more clicks. Jobs read pay rate "Dependent on Qualifications" does nothing to attract job seekers.
- Jobs that are attractive to workers. Right now, there is a shortage of skilled, semi-skilled, and even reliable unskilled labor. To attract the best people, you need to offer the best jobs. Pay is one factor, but you also need to find ways to sell the opportunities to candidates. Job descriptions need to be as compelling as possible.
- Jobs need to be promoted through your website. The Career Portal has the ability to create RSS feeds of featured jobs. You should use this feature to promote "hot jobs" right on the home page of your website and on the sidebar of the Job Seekers section.
- Encouraging Career Portal opt-ins. The Career Portal has a feature where job seekers can opt-in for job alerts. Encourage job seekers to sign up for your Career Portal and opt-in, and then send regular hot jobs emails to your candidates.
