CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheets. It is a style sheet language used for describing the presentation of a document written in a markup language. CSS can change the style and to some extent, the layout of elements on the page. However, CSS cannot control the markup. A website consists of HTML markup, and CSS. The CSS styles the HTML. CSS can't re-arrange how things appear on the page or modify the text that appears. What CSS can do is change colors, fonts, sizes, positioning, etc.
